Life is good

I just painted the last room in my house that I needed to paint. I ripped up the remaining carpet in that last bedroom too. I only got a minimal amount of paint in my hair (it all wound up on my jeans) and the installer guy just hooked up DirecTV and TiVo for me. It's going to be a good weekend.

The IceMan Cometh

I have never been so grateful to hear the two words “Ice Storm” before. Topping them off with “horrible driving conditions,” “downed wires” and “don’t leave the house” is just icing on the cake.

I was supposed to be at a meeting in Connecticut today. Not a big deal except my boss thought we should do the trip in one day. Still not a huge deal from Philly but he set the meeting up for 10 AM and we were going to drive NOT take the train. Excuse me?! I was going to have to be at his house at 5:30 AM thereby leaving my house at about 4:30AM. Then I was to have the pleasure of sitting in a car (and rush hour traffic) with him for over FOUR HOURS EACH WAY. Oh yeah, and then he wanted to drive home after a lunch meeting and after we stopped in on some other clients so we weren’t expecting to be home until after 8 at night. That’s a long day. And a long time making small talk in a mid-sized rental.

Then came the Winter Storm Warnings. Whoo hoo! Six to ten inches of snow in Connecticut and ice here in Philly. Needless to say I am now sitting at home working on my second pot of coffee and back blogging. Not a bad Thursday after all.

I never said it was for everyone

I have had over 37 visitors to my blog who have found me by searching for “Aquanet Hairspray” on Google. THIRTY SEVEN. Now, that’s a little shocking in and of itself but on Saturday a person googled “Aquanet Hairspray” from Hicksville, New York. You just can’t make this stuff up.

So far none of them have come back. I hope they weren’t disappointed when they read the post.

It ain't easy being Agnostic

So today must be the first day of Lent. I had to remind myself not to tell friends that they “have a little something on (your) forehead” and “let me just get that for you” while sticking my finger in my mouth and then reaching for their faces.

UPDATE: I reread this post after Greg commented in the post above. I worry that this post didn't come out "quite right." Not that I need to correct this but also not wanting to insult friends:
Not being Catholic, every year I forget about Ash Wednesday until I run into a friend with Ash on their forehead, usually later in the day when it's almost worn off. Every year I point out, "Uh, you have a little something right there" thinking I'm helping. And every year they remind that it's Ash Wednesday. This year I remembered so no more embarrassing myself... at least for one day.

Warning

Sorry, faithful readers, but blogging is going to be light this week. I have a couple of day-long work trips this week and my company is expecting me to actually be prepared for them. I promise I'll be better next week.
